I’ve lived in White Bear Lake since 2007 and it still doesn’t get old. Whatever the season, I still think my town is as charming as it is impressive.
If you live in White Bear Lake – or simply want to explore a new town – I put together a full day itinerary so you can make the most of 12 hours in my favorite town. Whether you’re playing tourist in your own town or visiting for the first time, this itinerary packs all the charm, fun, and deliciousness of our little lakeside gem into one day.
8:00 AM – Breakfast and pastries
Start your day with a cozy vibe and a cup of locally brewed coffee at Anchor Coffee. Pair it with a donut or goodie from Goodthings Cafe, which is just across the parking lot.
9:00 AM – Stroll Lake Avenue
After breakfast, take a walk along Lake Avenue and stroll through downtown. You can browse cute boutiques, pop into the dozens of local shops, and enjoy the lake views — it’s beautiful in every season.
11:00 AM – Mid-Morning Spa Session at Sunbear Spa
Nothing says “staycation” like a little pampering. Treat yourself to a mini spa session at Sunbear Spa. Whether it’s a quick massage or a relaxing facial, you’ll leave glowing and ready for the day.
1 PM – Lunch at Acqua
For a more upscale lunch, head to Acqua Restaurant. With stunning lakeside views and a menu that’s always on point, this spot is a local favorite for a reason. For a more casual lunch, head to Alleycat’s for delicious sandwiches and burgers. Take your meal to go and sit on the public tables next to the lake (adjacent to Acqua)!
2:00 PM – Afternoon Adventure: Choose Your Fun
Summer: Rent a pontoon, paddleboard or kayak from Tally’s for a little adventure on the water.
Winter: Try ice fishing! Hire a guide to keep it easy and fun.
Year-round: Explore the Tamarak Nature Center for indoor and outdoor adventures.
4:30 PM – Sweet Treat Break
No trip to White Bear Lake is complete without a stop at Cup and Cone (if it’s still open; it’s a seasonal spot)! If it’s closed, head to Sweets by Brickhouse across the highway for equally delicious treats!
5:30 PM – Sunset Drinks
Cap off your day with a beverage at Rudy’s Redeye Grill (order the Ruditini; you won’t be disappointed) or the Alchemist (ask the bartender to surprise you)!
6:30 PM – Dinner at The Brickhouse
Enjoy dinner at The Brickhouse, one of my favorite places to gather. Whether you’re sitting in a cozy igloo in the winter or enjoying the summer rooftop, this spot nails casual comfort food every time.
Bonus: Seasonal Tips!
If you’re visiting White Bear during the holiday season, add a sleigh ride through downtown and don’t miss driving around the lake to view the holiday lights.
In the fall, you can’t come to Whtie Bear without a visit to Pine Tree Apple Orchard in Dellwood.
If you’re coming in the spring or summer, check out Marketfest on Thursday nights or the farmers markets on Friday mornings!
